LifeVis Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using LifeVis ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

LifeVis is a personal data visualization application that allows you to import, organize, and visualize data from social media archives, travel history, and professional experience. The App processes and stores all data locally on your device.

3. Your Data

• You retain full ownership of all data you import into LifeVis.
• All data is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your data.
• You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any data you import.
• You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data.

4. Sharing Feature

LifeVis includes an optional sharing feature that allows you to share selected content with others via a link. When using this feature:

• You are responsible for the content you choose to share.
• Shared data is transmitted through our relay server but is not stored. Standard operational logs (IP addresses, request paths) are retained for up to 14 days for security purposes (see Privacy Policy).
• You can stop sharing at any time.
• Do not share content that is illegal, harmful, or that you do not have the right to share.

5. Add-ons

LifeVis supports optional add-ons that provide additional ways to view and interact with your data. By using add-ons:

• Add-ons run locally on your device within a sandboxed environment and can access your imported data in order to display it.
• Add-ons cannot transmit your data to external servers.
• Add-on preferences and configuration are stored locally on your device.
• We may make both free and paid add-ons available through the App.

6. In-App Purchases

Some add-ons and features may be available as in-app purchases. By making a purchase:

• All purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not process payments directly.
• Purchases are subject to the terms and refund policies of the respective app store.
• To request a refund, contact Apple or Google directly through their standard refund process.
• Purchased add-ons are licensed to you and may not be transferred or resold.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any illegal purpose.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
• Use the sharing feature to distribute illegal or harmful content.
• Attempt to overload or disrupt the relay server.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its code, design, documentation, and bundled add-ons, is the intellectual property of Stephen Suess. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App and any purchased add-ons in accordance with these terms and the applicable app store terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any add-on code or content.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stephen Suess shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, loss of profits, or damages resulting from the import or processing of your personal data.

11. Data Loss

Since all data is stored locally on your device, we cannot recover lost data. We are not responsible for data loss due to device failure, accidental deletion, or any other cause. We recommend maintaining your original data archives as backups.

12. Third-Party Content

LifeVis allows you to import data from third-party services. We are not affiliated with and do not endorse any third-party service. Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms and policies.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands. This choice of law does not affect any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
